Mental health issues for young people are a big concern. Nearly 20 percent of children and young people ages 3-17 in the United States have a mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral disorder, and suicidal behaviors with high school students increased more than 40 percent in the decade before 2019. Mental health challenges were the leading cause of death and disability in this age group. These trends got worse during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Though times may be tough, there is hope. By getting young people and parents engaged in discussions and activities about how to improve mental health, we can move beyond awareness and tackle the heart of the issue.
At Big Edition, the parent company of FamilyMinded, we are launching a new digital program focused on teenage mental health and wellness. Our goal is to make mental health and wellness strategies more accessible with tools, resources, and support to strengthen mental health outcomes.
We want to help transform teen mental health and build a community that can help teenagers develop stronger mental health and wellness strategies. If you are interested in this mission and learning more about our project or joining our community, please take our teen wellness survey.
