This Blockbuster-Inspired Vegas Bar is a ‘90s Kid’s Dream Come True!
Friday nights once came with a somewhat competitive routine. New releases disappeared fast, late fees stacked up, and grabbing the right case off the shelf meant everything. The ritual faded when streaming took over, but the behavior stuck. People still want to browse, compare, and make a personal pick. Las Vegas just found a way to turn that habit into a night out, and it runs on a tight schedule.

Back 2 The Video Store: A 90s Speakeasy Bar opens in Las Vegas on March 25, 2026, and runs through May 17. It’s located at PKWY Tavern, 4930 W. Flamingo Road, about three miles off the Strip, and it operates Wednesdays through Sundays during that window.
The space recreates a video rental store layout with aisles, shelves, and rows of cases. The design choice brings back the decision-making process people remember, where picking something off the shelf was part of the fun.
Bucket Listers created the concept, the same company behind Mariah Carey’s Holiday Bar at Park MGM and the Malibu Barbie Cafe at Area15. Earlier versions of this pop-up sold out in cities including New York, Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles.
Ordering a Drink Turns Into an Activity

The entire setup changes how a basic bar order works. Instead of scanning a printed menu, guests walk the aisles and pull a movie case off the shelf. Each case lists the cocktail ingredients inside, so the decision is made before reaching the bar.
Once the case is in hand, it goes to the bartender, who builds the drink based on that selection. The extra step turns ordering into a shared activity. Groups split up, grab different titles, and compare what shows up on the bar.
Drinks That Double as Movie References
The cocktail list pulls directly from 1990s movies, and each one ties back to a specific case on the shelf. Mean Girls contains vodka, lemon juice, watermelon syrup, and cotton candy. Happy Gilmore features vodka, sweet tea, lemon juice, and simple syrup. The Big Lebowski is made with coffee liqueur, vanilla extract, vodka, and shaved nutmeg.
Each recipe aligns with the film’s tone, so the drink choice becomes a small extension of personal taste. Someone who reaches for a comedy ends up with a lighter mix, while a cult classic is generally richer. Food follows the same idea. The Mighty Ducks Quesadilla comes with beef brisket or chicken, and The Mystic Pizza keeps the movie reference going all the way to the table.
A Different Atmosphere Depending on the Night

The schedule further enhances the mood. Trivia nights, bingo, karaoke, and live DJs rotate throughout the week, so the experience changes depending on when someone shows up. A midweek visit might be quieter with structured games, while weekends push toward a louder setup with music. The range gives people a reason to return during the eight-week run instead of treating it as a one-time stop.
General admission starts at $17.80 per person. The price includes 90 minutes of open seating and one cocktail or mocktail, with additional drinks available for purchase.
The cost is low enough to fit into a larger Vegas plan, especially since the location is a short drive from the Strip. It works as a first stop before dinner or a standalone outing for groups who want something different.
