The Stranger Things House Is for Sale, and It Is a 1980s Time Capsule
The real-life house used as the Wheeler family home in Stranger Things was recently listed for sale in East Point, Georgia. The property drew attention because it remains largely unchanged from the period the show is set in, with interior features that closely reflect suburban American homes of the 1980s. The house was listed for $350,000 and attracted strong interest soon after hitting the market.
A Television Filming Location With a Real Address
In the series, the home appears as a residence in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. In reality, it is a two-story house located in a residential cul-de-sac outside Atlanta, sitting on a little over two acres of land.
Netflix purchased the property in 2021 for $425,000 and used it throughout the show as the exterior of the Wheeler family home. Interior scenes associated with the Wheeler house were filmed on a separate set, which is standard practice in television production.
The structure itself was built in 1963, though most of the visual details that stand out today reflect updates and finishes typical of later decades.
Interior Features That Reflect the 1980s
Listing photos show a home that has not undergone the kinds of renovations common in recent years. Wood-paneled walls appear throughout several living areas. Brick fireplaces serve as focal points, and sliding glass doors open onto a rear patio.
The floor plan maintains clearly defined rooms with separate dining, living, and family spaces. The kitchen includes retro cabinetry, patterned wallpaper, and fixtures consistent with late 20th-century suburban design.
These elements remain because the home was never substantially modernized.
Buyer Interest and Sale Outcome

Many houses associated with major television productions are remodeled, staged, or later converted into themed properties. In this case, the Wheeler house remained a private residence for years without significant updates. For buyers and fans alike, the appeal comes from authenticity rather than presentation.
After listing at $350,000, the property went under contract in less than a month and ultimately sold for $365,000, $15,000 above the asking price.
The buyers, who are fans of the series, indicated that they planned to preserve the home’s overall character while making only necessary updates.
