Celebrities always seem to be dating someone new, but some members of the “Stranger Things” cast have defied the odds and settled into healthy, happy, long-term relationships.
Here’s the scoop on the love lives of all the “Stranger Things” stars. You might be surprised by who’s still single.
Millie Bobby Brown: In a Relationship
Character: Eleven
Relationship status: Dating Jake Bongiovi
Bottom line: Millie Bobby Brown was just a kid when she was first cast in “Stranger Things,” but not anymore. She’s been in a few relationships throughout her teen years, previously dating rugby player Joseph Robinson and singer Jacob Sartorius.
For the past year, however, Brown has been romantically entwined with Jake Bongiovi, the son of Jon Bon Jovi. They made their first public appearance together in May 2022, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.
Finn Wolfhard: In a Relationship
Character: Mike Wheeler
Relationship status: Dating Elsie Richter
Bottom line: Finn Wolfhard, best known for playing Mike Wheeler on “Stranger Things,” isn’t much for PDA. He did, however, confirm that he’s dating actress Elsie Richter. He later claimed that he only disclosed their relationship publicly because a fan threatened to release her address if he didn’t. Yikes.
But some on the internet think they have broken up. We can see why he’s so private about his relationships, and we don’t blame him for trying to keep his personal life on the down low.
Still, the pair makes a cute couple. Their hair even matches. We’ll see if Stranger Things cast relationship can last.
Winona Ryder: In a Relationship
Character: Joyce Byers
Relationship status: Dating Scott Mackinlay Hahn
Bottom line: Like Finn Wolfhard, Golden Globe winner Winona Ryder, has been notoriously quiet about her love life. Known for playing quirky and dark yet lovable characters, the doe-eyed actress has been in a relationship with Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011.
Hahn is a well-known fashion designer who co-founded a green clothing line called Loomstate. In 2010, he told Racked: “Even though it’s this idea of being environmentally conscious, inspired by nature, and socially responsible, it was really born out of wanting to make our factory profitable,” he said. “It has to go hand-in-hand. And we wanted to create criteria that raised the bar in supply chain operations. So using certified organic cotton was the only way we were going to make jeans.”
Sounds like Winona finally found a keeper, after previous flings with Johnny Depp, Keanu Reeves and Matt Damon.
David Harbour: Married
Character: Jim Hopper
Relationship status: Married to Lily Allen
Bottom line: Whoever said celebrity relationships never work out hasn’t met David Harbour and Lily Allen. They started dating in 2019, and it must have been love at first sight.
The two tied the knot at an Elvis-inspired ceremony in Las Vegas in September 2020. The marriage was even officiated by an Elvis impersonator. True to their Southern California roots, they had it catered by In-N-Out.
Harbour adores Lily Allen’s two daughters, whom she shares with her ex-husband Sam Cooper. In an interview with People, Harbour described his life with Allen. “I married a beautiful, incredible woman who I love,” he said. “I have never met someone who is so deeply kind as her. I’ve never felt so taken care of and cared for by another human being. She really is just a deeply kind individual, and I love that about her.”
Gaten Matarazzo: In a Relationship
Character: Dustin Henderson
Relationship status: Dating Lizzy Yu
Bottom line: For being born in 2002, Gaten Matarazzo is shockingly mature for his age. Not one to buy into modern-day hookup culture, the “Stranger Things” star has been in a relationship with Lizzy Yu, an actress and musical theater performer, for three years.
They met before Matarazzo joined the “Stranger Things” cast, and they routinely share cute photos together on Instagram. She’s much less active on social than him, but by the looks of it, the young couple are in it for the long haul.
Fun fact: Matarazzo was born with a genetic condition called cleiodocranial dysotosis. The disorder causes abnormal development of certain bones, particularly in the face and neck. He underwent several surgeries, but now he’s doing much better.
Caleb McLaughlin: Single
Character: Lucas Sinclair
Relationship status: Single
Bottom line: Born in 2001, the young Caleb McLaughlin hasn’t shared much about his love life. As far as we can tell, he’s single and focusing on his career at the moment. Not a bad call.
McLaughlin won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series alongside the rest of the “Stranger Things” cast, but that wasn’t the start of his days in the limelight.
He played Young Simba in the Broadway production of “The Lion King,” and starred in his first feature film in 2020.
Natalia Dyer: In a Relationship
Character: Nancy Wheeler
Relationship status: Dating Charlie Heaton
Bottom line: Arguably the cutest couple on the cast of “Stranger Things” is the pairing of Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton. Their characters are matched up in the series, and their chemistry was so good that they got together in real life. They met on set and made their first public appearance together in 2017.
It helps that they’re not the youngest cast members. Dyer was born in 1995, and her first major role was in the “Hannah Montana: The Movie” in 2009. She also appeared as a supporting character in “The Greening of Whitney Brown” in 2011.
Charlie Heaton: In a Relationship
Character: Jonathan Byers
Relationship status: Dating Natalia Dyer
Bottom line: Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton have been together for such a long time that fans have speculated the couple might have secretly gotten married.
In a video interview with BuzzFeed, Heaton joked about having “to talk to the wife,” but we’re guessing they were just using it as a term of endearment.
Joe Keery: In a Relationship
Character: Steve Harrington
Relationship status: Dating Maika Monroe
Bottom line: See? Hollywood relationships can last. In addition to the dreamy Charlie/Natalia love story, “Stranger Things” actor Joe Keery has been in a relationship with “Independence Day: Resurgence” actress Maika Monroe for about five years.
They first locked eyes at a party in 2017. The pair grew closer during their time on the set of “After Everything,” and went public at the premiere of “Stranger Things” Season 2. They weathered the pandemic together, and it sounds like they got a crash course in relationship dynamics in the process.
“Over quarantine, it was like we spent so much time together, which was rare,” Keery said. “I mean, that’s one of the disadvantages of dating someone else in the industry. There are advantages as well: somebody who kind of understands what’s going on with you in a pretty deep way. But yeah, I think she’s like me. She doesn’t take it all too seriously.”
Noah Schnapp: Single
Character: Will Byers
Relationship status: Single
Bottom line: Noah Schapp remains one of the few members of the “Stranger Things” cast who’s still single, but that probably has to do with the fact that he was born in 2004. You’ve got plenty of time, kid.
Instead of spending his time out on the town, he’s been aggressively pursuing his acting career. He dreamed of acting starting at just age 5 after seeing a Broadway production of “Annie.” His acting debut didn’t come until 2015, however, in Steven Spielberg’s “Bridge of Spies.” He also voiced Charlie Brown in “The Peanuts Movie” the same year.
But he remains best known for his role as Will in “Stranger Things.” Just this year, he also joined the cast of “The Tutor.”
Cara Buono: Married
Character: Karen Wheeler
Relationship status: Married to Peter Thum
Bottom line: As one of the older members of the “Stranger Things” cast, it makes sense that Cara Buono is one of the few of the bunch who’s already married. Buono has been married to Peter Thum since July 12, 2009. They met by chance on a flight to Los Angeles, and the rest was history.
Four years later, on Oct. 19, 2013, they welcomed their daughter Esme into the world. For a family straight out of Hollywood, they seem remarkably grounded. Just look at them shopping for Christmas trees.
Sadie Sink: Single
Character: Max Mayfield
Relationship status: Single
Bottom line: The stunning Sadie Sink practically grew up on the set of “Stranger Things.” While there were rumors that she was dating Patrick Alwyn, brother of actor Joe Alwyn, those have yet to be confirmed.
The pair was spotted hanging out in New York, but that makes sense given the circumstances. In addition to “Stranger Things,” Sadie Sink played a role in a short film by Taylor Swift, who’s currently dating Joe Alwyn. Are the two an item, or just friends? Only time will tell.
