On May 4, 2020, celebrities would have walked the red carpet for the annual avant-garde Met Gala. Often described as the “Oscars of fashion,” this year’s event at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art was set to coincide with the Costume Institute’s “About Time: Fashion and Duration” exhibition.
Of course, the live Met Gala has been postponed indefinitely, but fashion fans couldn’t simply take that as an answer. Instead, they’ve taken to social media to participate in the Met Gala Challenge, challenging friends and family to post recreated versions of past Met Gala looks. The results are truly amazing, reminding us that even over-the-top fashion cannot be stopped in the time of COVID-19. Just take a look for yourself.
