One of the most important and exciting times for a family is choosing your kid’s first school. Some families are able to pay a premium for private school education, but the National Center for Education Statistics reports there are nearly five times as many children enrolled at public schools than private ones nationwide. And with so many options, even in small towns, families might wonder which public elementary schools are the best.
We decided to put together the rankings for you. Using data from Niche, we’ve highlighted the best public elementary school in each state plus Washington, D.C., along with the four runners-up. The 2020 statistics reported by Niche use U.S. Department of Education data and other figures for its rankings, including state test scores, student-teacher ratio, student diversity, teacher quality, grade school ratings and overall quality of the school district. Here’s what the data shows.
