A Look Inside the Late Mary Tyler Moore’s Connecticut Home Listed for $16.9 Million
Mary Tyler Moore made millions of viewers smile with her warm presence on screen, and the home she shared with her husband, Dr. S. Robert Levine, carried that same warm spirit on a grander scale. The Greenwich, Connecticut, estate where the television icon lived for more than a decade has just sold for $16.9 million. Listed in September 2023 at $21.9 million, the price was reduced several times before landing at the figure a buyer finally paid in 2025.
Moore and Levine purchased the Georgian Colonial in 2006 for $9 million through an LLC. The stone residence, built in 1900, had already seen more than a century of history, but the couple chose to update it with the help of architect Stephen Wang. They preserved much of its historic character while introducing modern features, which made the home both elegant and comfortable.

The mansion spans more than 13,800 square feet with five bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The standout primary suite alone measures over 2,000 square feet and includes dual bathrooms, dressing areas, and generous walk-in closets. The house also includes a library and other distinctive rooms designed to provide both formal and relaxed living spaces.
One of the most striking areas is the double-height conservatory filled with stained-glass windows. The residence also features an elevator. For those focused on wellness, the gym offers spa-like amenities, including a hot tub, steam shower, and sauna, adding to the property’s sense of luxury.
Outdoor Living At Its Best
The estate sits on roughly 7.37 acres and offers ample privacy. It includes a pond, areas of conservation land, and a three-car garage topped with a one-bedroom apartment complete with its own kitchen and bathroom. A 65-foot swimming pool and an outdoor fireplace further highlight the property’s appeal for both entertaining and relaxation.
While the estate itself is impressive, its story carries deeper significance because of its famous former owner. Moore passed away in 2017 at age 80 following a cardiopulmonary arrest complicated by pneumonia. She was celebrated worldwide for her groundbreaking role in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” winning four Emmy Awards for the series. She later earned an Academy Award nomination for her dramatic performance in the 1980 film Ordinary People.

Levine, who married Moore in 1983, was represented in the sale by Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby’s International Realty in Greenwich. The buyers, represented by Helene Barre and Fran Ehrlich, also of Sotheby’s, were listed in town records under an LLC.
The sale of the estate closes a chapter on one of Greenwich’s most notable homes tied to a beloved American television icon. Its size, historic details, and luxurious amenities make it stand out in the area, and its association with Moore adds a layer of cultural resonance. For admirers of her career and legacy, the estate serves as a lasting reminder of the off-screen life she built with Levine in Connecticut.
Now, with the transaction complete, the home begins a new era under different owners. Still, its lasting connection to Mary Tyler Moore ensures that the property will always hold a special place in Greenwich’s history and in the story of one of television’s most enduring stars.
